Introducing Growth Meditations
What it is, why it exists, and what you can expect from my weekly newsletter on business and personal growth

Welcome to the first issue of Growth Meditations! Itās great to have you on this journey with me š¤©
Each week, I will be exploring topics related to business and personal growth⦠then sharing my learnings to help you on your journey.
To start, I want to give you some context:
What is Growth Meditations?
Why did I create it?
What can you expect?
Letās dive in!
What is Growth Meditations?
Growth Meditations is a modern brand for high performers who want to keep growing in all directions.
Itās also my personal blog / newsletter where I ā¦
Reflect on what Iām learning
Share actionable tips and frameworks
Pressure test new ideas Iām exploring
You can think of it as an idea lab for business and personal growth.
To set the boundaries of what Iāll explore each week, letās unpack the following definitions:
growth

Growth:
What is growth?
growth
/É”rÅTH/
1. The process of developing or maturing physically, mentally or spiritually.
2. The process of increasing in amount, value or importance.
The first definition is all about personal growth. How can we become the best version of ourselves?
Health and wellness šāāļø
Mental and emotional development šÆ
Human connection š
Purpose and meaning ā¤ļøāš©¹
You can expect a lot of content on these topics in the near future.
ā
The second definition provides the structure to frame business growth.
It includes a more traditional sense of growth (increasing in amount or value):
More revenue and profit š°ļø
More customers and employees š§āš¤āš§
More scale (geographies, offerings) š¢
But what struck me (and what Iām really intrigued by) is the last part of the definition: importance. Growth doesnāt always require more. It can also be about growing inā¦
Significance
Usefulness
Quality
Impact
Purpose
As I explore business growth, you can expect tools, frameworks and actionable advice on topics spanningā¦

Meditations:
What is meditation?
medĀ·iĀ·taĀ·tion
/ĖmedÉĖtÄSH(É)n/
Written or spoken discourse expressing considered thoughts on a subject.
When you think of someone meditating⦠you probably imagine a monk sitting in silence, practicing mindfulness to achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state.
Thatās one form of meditation.
But meditation can also be discourse, which is written or spoken communication or debate.
Looking at ideas from a different lens š
Pressure testing your thinking š¤
Going deep on a subject šļø
Striving for clarity š«
When I think of this form of meditation, I think of Marcus Aurelius.
For those familiar with Stoicism, youāve probably heard of him. Marcus was the emperor of Rome from A.D. 161-180, and his reign marked the last period of internal tranquility and good government in the empire before it descended into civil war.
Marcus Aureliusā book, Meditations, is a series of philosophical reflections that were intended to be private notes to himself as a source for his own guidance and self-improvement. If you havenāt read it, I highly recommend you check it out.

Iām no Marcus Aurelius⦠but Iām inspired by how he used writing to gain clarity and remind himself of what matters most.
Growth Meditations is my practice of building and thinking in public.
Why did I create it?
I hope Growth Meditations helps youā¦
Cut through the noise
Expand your perspective
Level up your thinking
Get inspired
But to be honest, Iām really doing this for myself.
I want toā¦
Hold myself accountable to learn new things šØ
Synthesize better insights from what I consume š”
Shift from consumption to creation (be in the arena) šļø
Use it as a platform to reconnect with (and expand) my network š
Have fun along the way š
Iāve long been intrigued by the creator economy, and rather than learning from the sideline, I figured it will be more effective to learn by doing.
What can you expect?
Consistency. I commit to showing up every week.
A wide variety of topics. Iām giving myself the freedom to see where my curiosity leads me ā thatās why I intentionally used such broad definitions of growth.
Different newsletter formats. I want to experiment with different ways to structure the newsletter. Over time I may land on a specific format, but for now, here are a few different formats I expect to try outā¦
A short email with quotes Iām pondering
Summaries of key insights I took away from books, podcasts or articles
Spotlights on tools or frameworks, with guidance on how to use them
Deep dives on specific topics (long-form essays)
Stories that highlight lessons from history, peers or my experience
New business ideas for you to steal
Evergreen content. I want the lessons, tips and tools highlighted to be applicable over time. The content may evolve (and need to be updated), but Iām intentionally NOT focusing on current events nor the latest trends and hype cycles.
Dialogue and debate. Iād like this to be a two-way street, so please respond with your reactions, thoughts or ideas. None of us have all the answers, but collectively we can achieve more clarity together.
Community. Over time, Iād love for this to grow into a community of diverse individuals with a shared objective to keep growing in all directions.
Letās learn and grow together!
Next weekā¦
In the next issue, Iāll introduce The Growth Compass: a simple framework I created (and Iām experimenting with) to keep myself growing in all directions.
Thanks for reading!
Iād love your feedback. Reply to this email, and let me know your thoughtsā¦
Which topics interest you the most?
What do you want to see more of in the future?
Until next week,
Scottā
